Pat Roche - VP Telcordia
The telecom industry has experienced significant
changes over the last decade and Telcordia has been changing to remain
in the vanguard of the industry. They have grown from a New Jersey
based firm, primarily serving domestic customers, to a corporation with
offices and customers worldwide. Their expansion has included the establishment
of development centers in global markets as well as the pursuit of outsourcing
and strategic partnering. This talk explored theTelcordia journey, focusing
on the Best Practices required to maintain its industry leadership in this
global workspace.
Mr. Roche has worked in the Telecommunications
industry for over 25 years. During that period he has led the development
of a broad range of Operations Support Systems including Element Management
Systems, Network Management Systems, Work Force Management Systems and
Service Negotiation Systems. Most recently he has been leading the
development of Telcordia's Service Delivery Platform.
He started at Bell Labs in 1977 working
as a software engineer. He joined Bellcore (later Telcordia) at its
inception in 1984 and was promoted to Executive Director in 1988 and led
the development of a broad range of Operations Support Systems. In
1996 he launched the Telcordia Force system that was part of Telcordia's
set of next generation Operations Support Systems. In 1999 he was
appointed to General Manager and Vice President of the Work Force Management
Business Unit with P?L responsibility for Telcordia's complete suite of
Work Force Products. Since that time he has lead the development
of Telcordia's Core Operations Support Systems and most recently Telcordia's
Service Delivery Platform
In 1988 Mr. Roche received Bellcore's
Award of Excellence for work in implementing Technician Access Network
and in 1996 received the Presidential Award for being a member of the team
that provided the rollout of Telcordia's Force Product. Mr. Roche
is a member of the College of Engineering Dean's Industrial and Professional
Advisory Board at the Pennsylvania State University.
Mr. Roche received his BS in Mathematics
and Computer Science from The Pennsylvania State University and MS in Computer
Science from The Pennsylvania State University.
