The PMI-New Jersey Networking local interest group was established to facilitate business and career networking among PMI-NJ members. The Networking Group's goals are to provide additional networking opportunities to PMI-NJ chapter members in the form of networking events, educational forums, and professional development opportunities. Business networking resources have been added to the PMI-NJ members via the Chapter Web site. Each month a structured networking event is produced with elements of speakers, panel discussions, job announcements, networking sessions and interactive workshops.
Information Systems Specific Interest Group is the largest of all SIGs within PMI with a staggering membership of over 14,000 members globally dispersed in 254 PMI-Chapters in 85 countries. Several services including Webinars, Podcasts and Professional Development Seminars have been extremely popular and useful to the members. Newly introduced Community Exchange Services, offered via the revamped website (http://www.pmi-issig.org/) includes exciting Job Opportunities and Knowledge Areas.
Over 30 Local Interest Groups in partnership with local PMI-Chapters provide professional networking opportunities to IS/IT members, including one within PMI-New Jersey Chapter. No wonder, ISSIG has been repeatedly awarded by PMI as SIG of the Year, including last year.
The PMI Information Systems SIG's LIG is
a NJ part of the PMI-ISSIG. To be a member of the PMI Information Systems
Specific Interest Group (PMI-ISSIG) you must be a member of PMI. If you
are already a member of the PMI, then you can add the Information Systems
SIG to your PMI membership. For more information, visit http://www.pmi-issig.org/

The WiPM SIG "came back to life" bigger and stronger after a period of inactivity. In 2001, the SIG received a PMI award for regeneration. It now has over 2,000 members worldwide, 15% of whom are non-US located, including over 500 members with the Project Management Professional (PMP) credential. Although its name and logo implies "women only," that's not the case--it has approximately ten men who are members of the organization. From the male perspective, WiPM provides a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about both the similarities and differences in gender as applied to our field.
While the types of services they provide are standard, they try to gear them with a female twist. Please browse their web site to learn more about our News Brief (6 times a year), special programs such as our eMentoring Program, Yahoo Community, and the volunteer opportunities.
