Project managers are always struggling
to find better ways to support stakeholder acceptance and use of new products
and/or services. If a project's end product will truly add value
and is aligned with an organization's strategy, then completion of the
deliverable, by itself, is insufficient. Project managers must therefore
support the organization's movement toward acceptance and use of the deliverable.
This then requires our ability to persuade and influence others to overcome
their resistance to change and increase their motivation to accept and
embrace change. In addition to laying a foundation of definitions
for common understanding, a review of the 12 Laws of Persuasion that will
create "instant influence" will be covered this evening. One of the
cornerstones for "magnetic persuasion" is the value of trust. There
is a clear correlation between trust and influence. We will review
the 5 "C's" of trust that will support self-improvement direction, increase
your ability to project "charisma" and improve your understanding of motivation
and how to determine the best approach for each stakeholder.
Persuasion and influence do require an
ability to "connect" with people. As project managers this "connection"
process is one of our most important soft skills. This presentation
will benefit all project managers, and it is a must attend event for true
leaders!
Ms. Bordelon has been a project manager
for many years in the private, public, non-profit and consulting sectors.
Her project experiences span technology, finance, change management, strategic
planning and other consulting services. At this time in her career,
Jeanette is building on her project management expertise with her passions
for teaching and motivating change by focusing on presentations, seminars
and coaching that support positive change in others.
She has presented at professional association
meetings and at the PMI Global Congress (where she was asked to give an
encore presentation). Jeanette’s seminar students have consistently
expressed positive feedback and have communicated the impact to both themselves
and others as they applied what they have learned. Jeanette’s formal
education started with a BA in education, expanded to include master degrees
in both music and counseling, and rounded out with an MBA to validate an
understanding of business. Her additional certifications of PMP (Project
Management Professional) and CTM (Competent Toast Master) have supported
her passion for leading projects and generating change in others through
speaking, seminars and presentations
