New Agile Certificatiton PMI-ACP - 28 Aug 2011

PMI has selected PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)SM as the name for the certification.

The PMI-ACP certification application is now open and available online at PMI.org. Note the following:
  • As a reminder, the PMI-ACP examination will be not be available until Q3 2011.
  • During the application process, you can also pay the certification fee. After the certification fee is submitted, PMI will randomly select individuals for audit. If you are selected, you can use the time between your application submittal and when the examination is available to complete the audit process.
  • Don’t forget that PMI-ACP participants are eligible for a 20% rebate of the certification. Pilot candidates must pay the certification fee and take the pilot examination on/by 30 November 2011 to receive this 20% rebate. The rebate will be issued within 60 days of taking the examination via the payment method used to pay the certification fee.

PDU Changes - 26 Jan 2011

Since research has shown that people did not fully understand the PDU categories and how to appropriately report their PDUs using the old structure, PMI is making the PDU categories more user-friendly.

Key changes to the program include:

  • Simplification to the CCR category structure, reducing the number of categories from 18 to 6.
  • Ensuring that all categories use the rule that one hour of learning activity is equivalent to one PDU.
  • Expanding the categories to include Web 2.0 learning opportunities.
  • Adding limits on certain categories to require that all credential holders pursue project management continuing education as part of maintaining their credential.
It is also important to note what is not changing in the program:
  • The three-year renewal cycle and 60 PDUs required to maintain the credential.
  • The re-certification fee structure.
How Does This Affect Me and What Do I Need to Do?
  • The PDU updated category structure implementation begins on 1 March 2011.
  • Between now and 1 March 2011, PMI is requesting that credential holders register their existing PDUs in the CCR system under the current PDU categories. After 1 March 2011, credential holders will need to report PDUs using the new categories.
  • Note that you will not lose any PDUs during this transition.
Following is a table that identifies the typical PDU reported and the translation from the old to the new structure:

New Continuing Certification Requirements System (CCRS) Now in Use

PMI has replaced the system that manages data and processes for the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) and the R.E.P. programs with a new solution developed and maintained by PMI. The new CCR System is expected to deliver a more seamless customer experience for credential holders, and strengthen PMI relationships with its education providers – both PMI communities and R.E.P.s.

The CCR System will provide the following benefits—

Credential holders will find it simpler and more efficient to:

Select activities (courses/events)
Report PDUs
View transcripts
Maintain multiple credentials
Education providers will have new and improved online abilities to:

Add and edit activities (courses/events)
Register activities for PDU eligibility
Change activity dates and descriptions
The new CCR System provides an easy-to-use graphical interface as the entry point for credential holders and education providers. Locating and entering information is intuitive, and can be done quickly and easily, and transactions will be easier to accomplish.

Make sure that all component events for which members can claim PDUs are entered into the system as soon as possible. This will help alleviate members trying to claim PDUs for an event that is not in the system.

Access to the system will be available through http://www.pmi.org by using a registered PMI username and password. If you plan to use the CCR System and are not registered on PMI.org, log in to http://www.pmi.org and create a registered user account.

A list of additional Frequently Asked Questions about the new Continuing Certification Requirements System can be found on the Announcement section of the Community Leadership Online Community.
