Background: PMINJ
has multiple communication vehicles; a bi-monthly newsletter, LinkedIn Group,
Facebook page and a website. There is a need to ensure that the readers [members
and community] are reading relevant information. Given that this is a volunteer
organization there is a need to be as efficient and effective as possible
in gathering timely and relevant information from inside the chapter as well
as external to the chapter. The Newsletter is produced in January,
March, May, July, September and November.
The Newsletter Editor is accountable for the content and quality of
the PMINJ newsletter. The current team structure consist of the editor, 2
content managers and one Content quality manager. The roles of Writer/reports
are being recruited.
Primary duties:
Interface and direct the newsletter team to produce a quality bi-monthly
publication
Develop the theme for each newsletter
Give direction on the content for each newsletter
Be aware of PMI and PMINJ events
Work closely with the Marketing – Public Relations Team
Work closely with the PMINJ Webmaster
Ensure the quality and relevance of the newsletter
Monitor readership statistics
Responsible to incorporate process and product improvement measures
Time Required: 5 hours a month

Project
Manager for Paterson Habitat for Humanity
Group - Community
Outreach - Marketing
Leverage your
proficiency in data gathering and reporting and combine this with a passion
for community development to assist in urban planning related work including
demographic information, land use and acquisition analysis. GIS mapping
opportunities also available!
Time required: Estimate of 5 hours a week for one month for a given project
component including knowledge transfer; additional ongoing opportunity related
to community development work if interested and available; flexible time
arrangements including Saturday mornings and evenings.
Volunteers Needed:
2 at Paterson Habitat office in Paterson NJ (some remote work possible
after initialization and prior to closing.)

The role of the
Corporate Outreach team is to spread the word of the value of Project Management
to the business community.
Primary duties:
Build relationship with companies
Visit corporate locations for various reasons:
To conduct a brown bag lunch session on a PM topic
To promote the value of the corporations employees being a member of PMI
and PMINJ
To promote the value of the corporation employees obtaining a PMI Certification
Participate in a Corporate Event representing PMINJ
Be active in the Corporate Community
Characteristics:
Ability to speak in a clear manner to convey a concise professional message
to corporate audiences
Have a positive and professional attitude
Be creative and innovative
Willing to learn
Time required: 1- 2 hour a month – when needed

The role of the

Outreach – Director
Group - Community Outreach

One of the strategic
objectives of PMINJ is to add value to NJ communities through outreach. The
three areas of Outreach: Food, Shelter, Scouting.
The group also has the PMIEF [PMI Education Foundation] Liaison position.
One other area being planned is to work with schools in the community.
In the area of Food we work with Food Banks to provide food through food
drives and other fund raising ideas. For Shelter we are working with Habitat
for Humanity. Scouting builds leaders and the role for PMINJ is to recognize
and acknowledge the Girl and Boy Scouts that achieve the Gold and Eagle Levels.
Primary duties:
Provide leadership to the community outreach team

to provide input about outreach efforts for publication

to Implement Agile Training Program
Group - Professional
Development & Training
Exciting position
on the Professional Development and Training Team. Looking for a project
manager to set up an Agile Training Program. The initial effort would
involve documenting a proposal for how the program should be structured. Research
should include understanding the market needs such as whether to begin with
PMI Agile Certification or with Scrum Master Training, reaching out to other
chapters to learn from their experiences, investigating various vendors,
etc. Once the proposal is approved, the individual would be responsible
for administering the program.
Time Required: 1 hour (PDUs) per week

Reporter / Writer

Background: PMINJ

The Writer / Reporter role is to write articles related to internal
PMINJ events and on occasion write articles that occur in the community
related to project management or specifically to PMINJ. The ideal candidate
for this role is a person that has good communications skills and will utilize
this position to improve on their communication skills as a writer, listener
and interview skills.
Internal Sources:
PMINJ Board members, members, PMINJ Dinner Meeting, PMINJ LCI meetings,
Symposium Leader – for IPM Day and May Symposium, and other events.
External Sources: Vendors, subject matter experts, community events,
corporations
The writer / reporter must have strong communication skills [writing,
listening and conducting interviews]. This is a great opportunity for the
right person that wants to improve their communication skills and gain
exposure within the PMINJ, PMI and local community.
This role will be a part of the Newsletter team that consists of the
Editor, Content Managers and a Quality Content manager. The content created
by this role will be used in the PMINJ newsletter, the PR team Social Media
and National PMI publications.
Time Required: 2 hours (PDUs) a month [starting new in the position
may require more hours initially]

will be given by the Project Management Institute – New Jersey Chapter
to celebrate the accomplishments of a superior Project Manager for his/her
outstanding performance and execution of exemplary project management by
providing the "Project Manager of the Year" award.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the
Project Manager of the Year (PMOY) Committee with the review of nomination
and submission packages
- Read, evaluate,
and score packages based on assigned criteria during the 2nd and 3rd weeks
of April
- May participate
on team call (1/2 hr) if need arises to validate scoring

Group - POY - Administration
Background:
Each year, the Project Management Institute – New Jersey Chapter
celebrates the accomplishments of a Project Team for its superior
performance and execution of exemplary project management by
providing the "Project of the Year" award.
Responsibilities:
- support the Director, POY
- assist with marketing the POY program to different
NJ organizations
- review initial project team submissions
- assist POY winner with presentation set-up (if required)
during the April Chapter dinner meeting.
- participate and coordinate with Director in monthly
POY team call (1/2 hr).
- may need to attend/participate on the monthly PMINJ
board meeting conference call to provide team status, on behalf of the
Director if he is not available.

Program
Speaker Team Member

The Program
Speaker Team is looking for additional volunteers to help with the speaker
identification and selection process. These individuals will
work with the speaker core team and others to identify and support
speakers for the monthly meetings. They will be expected to participate
on occasional conference calls (at a time that is convenient
for everyone) and work with prospective speakers from the identification
stage to the meeting presentation. They will also be involved
in the post-meeting analysis. The expected effort is about
two hours per month during the summer and fall and then decreasing to
approximately one hour per month.

PMI is encouraging
the chapter communities to reach out to members who are scheduled
to expire within 60 days, and personally encourage them to renew
their memberships. The PMINJ Chapter is looking for as many volunteers
as possible to make these calls on an monthly basis. Volunteers
will be given a script and a call list.

Photographer
for Monthly Chapter Meetings
Group - Programs
Alternate with
someone else to take pictures at the monthly meetings. This
individual would need to be able to attend the meetings in which
he/she is responsible for the pictures and owns a higher-end digital
camera that can take pictures in RAW-type format. Since the pictures
are usually taken in a darker room, this format allows easier changes
when making adjustments in Photoshop or Photoshop-like software.
Estimated Time Commitment:
1hours taking pictures at each evening meeting and then 30 minutes
or so reviewing and fixing these pictures (if necessary)

Member for PMINJ Member of the Year Award
Group - PMOY - Admijnistration
The NJ Chapter
of PMI (one of the largest and most successful PMI chapters) is
in the process of creating a PMI Member of the Year award to honor
a member of our chapter that goes above and beyond normal PMI responsibilities
to help in the advancement of the project management profession.
In order to implement this program from an idea to reality we are
looking for a few members of the PMINJ chapter who are willing and
able to spare a few hours each week for a couple of months in an effort
to formalize and implement a process to select a yearly receipt of
this reward.
At the current time we need
4-5 volunteers for each of the following two committees.
- Committee to formalize the
selection criteria.
- Charter of this committee would
be to take the Award criteria outline and formalize the criteria
of what will be used to determine the awards receipts..
- Committee to create the nomination
process procedure.
- Charter of this committee would
be to create the action & forms needed for the two step nomination
process.

Team Member for Symposiums

The Vendor team
needs at least two volunteers for the May 2nd Symposium
The vendor team is responsible
for reaching out to vendors, informing them of the Symposium
sponsorship opportunities, building and garnering commitment
from these key relationships and maintaining related records such
as updating the master vendor list.
Summary of Responsibilities:

sponsorship opportunities; match opportunities to their areas of interest.

Team needs volunteers for its Symposium events the next being

The Symposium Communications
team is responsible for preparing event communications about
the Symposium its speakers and programs both prior to the event
to inform the PM Community after the event to describe the programs
attended.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Assist the Communications
Team Lead with preparing email and/or web content for the PMI NJ Symposium,
and chapter newsletter.
- Participate in weekly planning
calls with the team lead and other communications committee members
in preparation for the Symposium
- Attend the event and prepare
write ups for sessions attended for newsletter while enjoying
the speakers, great food, networking and earning PDU’s

Photographers with their own high-end digital camera that can
take pictures in the preferred RAW-type format, a camera that can
easily of adjust with varying indoor lighting which makes for easier
adjustments in Photoshop or Photoshop-like software.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Attend event and take photographs
of speakers and vendors and candid shots of the attendees during
the entire day.
- Assisting in the cataloging
of photographs after the event also requested but not required.

The PDUs claimed in this
category count against the maximum of 45 PDUs (or, 20 PDUs for PMI-RMP
and PMI-SP) allowed for "Giving Back to the Profession" categories
(Categories D, E, and F).
PDU Rule 1 PDU is awarded for 1 hour of volunteer
(non-compensated) service. To claim PDUs for service
as an elected officer or appointed committee member, you must
serve in the role for a minimum of three months.
