Abstract

With an estimated 500,000 copies in circulation, "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge" is the most widely distributed project management standard in the world. The Australian Institute of Project Managers built their Competency Standards around it. ISO used it as the basis for developing standards for quality in project management.

Yet despite the acclaim and acceptance, some of the most valuable insights into the process of project management have remained buried in the understated style of the document. In this presentation, Bill Duncan, the primary author of the 1996 version, identified and explained ten of these nuggets.
