Abstract

Taking a proactive stance to successful career management is critical in today’s unprecedented and turbulent times. It is critical to master the skills of effective lifetime networking and job opportunity creation for continued career life management and business success. Effective career management is very much like project management in that it involves planning, implementing your plan and using the best quality methods to achieve successful results. Finding jobs, developing new business, and advancing careers are three of the most important processes to which networking and career marketing skills can be learned and applied. Studies show that in today’s uncertain business climate, most of us may have from five to seven distinctly different careers in our lifetimes.  That means your network should always be ready and active.

This session covered the following topics:
  • Myths and realities of networking
  • Understanding the power of networking for career and business management, including practical steps to building, expanding and maintaining an effective network, and strategies that work
  • Tips for articulating what you do; ideas for creating opportunities when there is no opening.
