Abstract

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) is becoming a major consideration for senior management and all line personnel. Recent legislation and government directives are influencing business units to analyze how capitalized assets are being used within an organization, and how efficiently the enterprise is using its external supply chain as well. OMB 11-7A reporting is a direct derivative of federal government agencies developing a formal understanding of how to prioritize capital assets; Sarbanes-Oxley is influencing private industry to review how it looks at its added value through both financial and non-financial metrics. The end result of PPM is the prioritization of capitalized projects and the tracking of profitability on customer sponsored projects. Mr. Dekker’s presentation focused on Enterprise Project Management and how it relates directly to PPM. He introduced prioritization methods of capitalized projects, financial success factors, and the integration of traditional project management disciplines.
