Individual Student Paper of the Year
Team Student Paper of the Year

Both from Stevens Institute of Technology

Two outstanding and extremely interesting papers from Stevens Institute of Technology have been selected this year for the Student Paper of the Year Award.  The winners are Julia Steponanko as the Individual Student Paper of the Year recipient and a team with Craig Edwards, Manoj Rana and Bhavin Shukla  for the Team Student Paper of the Year.

Most anyone driving on New Jersey roadways has experienced the frustration of sitting in long lines of traffic waiting to make a turn, or just get through an intersection at rush hour. Julia will present an analysis of a project to develop a comprehensive traffic study to improve the safety and capacity at a busy intersection in New Jersey.  Current conditions as well as projections of increased vehicular and pedestrian volumes were analyzed, and recommendations were made for a suitable re-design to provide a safer and more effective traffic pattern.

Bhavin, Craig, and Manoj will present an analysis of a project to expand a large, multi-specialty medical group with an aim to increasing its reach by providing additional non-invasive cancer therapies.  As the additional capability would require the purchase of expensive machinery, numerous factors such as competitors, cost effectiveness, efficiency, and patient safety were all considered.
