Abstract

We have all heard about Sarbanes-Oxley, but how many really understand it?

Section 404 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX 404) is a provision that mandates the review and assessment of internal controls over financial reporting for publicly traded companies. This presentation will provide Project Managers with an understanding of SOX 404 compliance and how organizations can ensure their program for assessing the system of internal control over financial reporting is not only effective, but also cost-effective from a project management standpoint.

The presentation highlights the relationship between Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) principles and the PMBOK project management process groups and knowledge areas.

With the insights from this presentation, Project and Program Managers will be better able to understand and manage the requirements of COSO and address project audit requirements and SOX compliance.

Victoria Nager is also a certified public accountant, project management professional and certified information systems auditor who has leveraged project management principles to support SOX 404 compliance.

Prior to starting Good Business Services in 2012, Victoria held various leadership roles in internal controls compliance, finance operations and project management.
