Abstract

As more businesses are focusing towards Excellence, just building a PMO is no longer sufficient. PMO with a strong maturity and capabilities along with an interconnected Organizational Project Management Continuum is essential.

 Murad will provide an overview on Project Management Maturity with key insights on how to select and use models such as OPM3®; an Organizational Project Management Maturity Model that is rapidly becoming the preferred tool for improving organizational project management around the globe. According to PMI's Pulse of Profession 2016 Report, the percentage of organizations with high project management maturity had not changed for the past six years, while the Pulse of Profession 2017 Report identifies organizations with 60% or fewer projects being completed on time and on budget as under-performers with low benefit realization maturity so there is huge room for improvement.

 This topic would benefit diverse practitioners from portfolio, program, project managers to Project Management Office (PMO) leadership including those who are aspiring to raise the bar of their organizational project management practice.

Bio:
Murad Karimi is regarded as a subject matter expert in the Organizational Project Management Continuum, which comprises Project, Program, and Portfolio Management disciplines. Murad is a certified Project Management Maturity Assessor by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) for Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3®). He has over 15 years of global Project Management Office (PMO) experience in building PMO Centers of Excellence (CoE) and raising the maturity bar through best practices, governance, compliance, consistency of methodologies and work ethics. He has worked with leading Fortune 500 companies, and has successfully built international multiple enterprise PMOs from ground zero.

 Besides being PMI® PMP® & OPM3® certified, he is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Lean Sigma certified, Kaizen certified, Total Quality Management (TQM) certified, Certified Process Professional, Certified Scrum Master, and a Certified Sarbanes-Oxley Expert. He is a recipient of several Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Awards; these include J&J’s Global IT Strategy Award and J&J’s Platinum and Gold Encore Awards highlighting best in quality leadership skills.
