Abstract

The "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge" (PMBOK® Guide), sixth edition, was released in 2017. This edition contains the latest updates made by the Project Management Institute (PMI) in their continuing efforts to keep this guide relevant with new project management thoughts, practices, and tools.

In this presentation, John will:
  • Go over the evolution and development of the PMBOK
  • Look at the layout and the important themes of the new PMBOK
  • Review the changes made since the fifth edition to the knowledge areas, the processes, and some of the new inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs.

Bio:
John N. Tse, PMP, CSM, is a program / project manager and project management trainer. In his career, he has successfully led projects for clients in various industries, including companies like Goldman Sachs, Verizon, and BMW. He started teaching project management in 2001 for Boston University Corporate Education Center and has since gone on to teach and develop project management training courses for other corporations as well as for the County College of Morris as an adjunct faculty member.

John has been PMINJ's Vice President of Professional Development since 2014 where his responsibilities are to bring training opportunities to the chapter and oversee the mentorship program. He has also spoken at graduate and undergraduate classes on behalf of PMINJ, and has represented the chapter at corporate, industry, and student events.

John received his Bachelor of Science in Management and in Information Systems from New York University and his Master of Business Administration in corporate finance from Pace University. He also holds certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2000 and as a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) since 2013.
