Topic: Part II: How Agile Anti-Patterns can generate
undesired consequences for your Team and Organization
Time: 6 to 7:00pm
Description:
Note: During the April ADG this topic generated many
interesting conversations so the request was made to continue
our discussion in May. You are welcome to join us even if you
did not attend the April session since we will be discussing
different anti-patterns. We plan to begin with: Your Product
Owner decides to create "Sub-Tasks" in each Backlog item prior
to Sprint Planning. Will this behavior help or harm your
team(s)?
What is a Agile anti-pattern? Definition from Wikipedia:
An anti-pattern is a common response to a
recurring problem that is usually ineffective and risks
being highly counterproductive.
At first they may seem harmless but if unchecked they could
end up harming your agile adoption by thwarting a team to
self-organize. We will be using a deck of Anti-Pattern Cards
that have been published by Adam Weisbart along with Miro to
share each card to discuss typical things you may encounter
which may include things like:
- “We can never get in touch with our Product Owner”
- “We don't have to plan now that we're agile. We do stuff
on the fly.”
- “We’re in a hurry, we'll do QA after the Sprint.”
These are ineffective solutions to common problems that
usually result in undesired consequences.
During this session we will discuss over 20 agile
anti-patterns and understand who can resolve them so that you
can help your team and organization avoid these traps.
