Veterans, Transitioning Service Members, and Military Spouses

Learn How to Own Your Career

09 & 16 & 30 Sep 2021

6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Abstract

In Corporate America, everything we do is based on a belief that career pursuits can be more effective if one embraces the idea of becoming an entrepreneur of their career.  That does not mean that they have to actually become an entrepreneur, but rather that they learn to think and act like an entrepreneur in their career pursuits. This is a hard concept to understand and embrace and can be particularly challenging for veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses.

Our focus is to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses to understand, identify and then present their true value as they transition and throughout their professional career development.

Our approach has three main components.  They are:
  • Acquaint veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses with the concepts of I Inc. and being an entrepreneur of their career.
  • Have the veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses participate in workshops to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts and finally
  • Participate in optional one on one coaching sessions to further prepare veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses to develop and refine their career strategy.

Workshops – Three  2 hour workshops with these specific learning objectives:
  • Complete a self-assessment of where the veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses are with regard to their career pursuits.
  • Develop an individual “Sweet Spot” of their Personal Brand, Value Proposition and desired Under-served Needs to help them market themselves.
  • Develop a plan to have the veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses “tell their story” in a compelling manner in writing, orally and in social media.
  • Develop an overall Career Development Plan using a traditional Gantt chart type format.
