Abstract
If the Covid pandemic has taught us anything it has taught us that, “one thing that is constant is change.” The entire planet has experienced a profound shift of consciousness. For a period of a few months, everything came to a standstill, and this offered all of us a time to just go within and think. The number of transitions caused by the pandemic are too numerous to list in this presentation, but the overarching theme is that we had plenty of time to pause, reflect and look at our lives and what really matters to us.
Career transitions are not “one size fits all.” They have both external (tactical) and internal (emotional, soulful) aspects to them. In this presentation, Diana C. Stephens, PhD, CEO & Founder of Mindful Job Alignment will outline the external and internal pieces of a career transition and provide some practical tips for managing through these life transitions.
Based on her PhD dissertation, “A Mindful Approach to Job Search,” she will introduce her eight-part process which includes both the tactical and emotional sides of job search. Some topics to be presented are, reconciling your transition, creating a calm space at home, incorporating mindfulness techniques into your daily life, the benefits of a side hustle and multiple streams of income, creating a job vision based on your values and creating a strategic action plan for your job search.

Having been a casualty of five layoffs over a 10-year period, she knows too well the life disruption caused by a job loss. The career disruptions, coupled with a personal health challenge and 16 years of Alzheimer’s elder care responsibilities for her mother, caused severe financial catastrophe in her life. She has studied various calming and motivational modalities she believes anyone can introduce into their life in a simple, cost-effective way.
In 2021, Diana completed her PhD in Holistic Coaching. Her Dissertation was titled, “A Mindful Approach to Job Search.” Her education also includes bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music in Voice Performance, and an MBA in Marketing. Diana believes that corporate “downsizings” will continue to take place in the workforce, due to the increasing cost of health benefits. Those over 45 years old will be hit especially hard.
