Abstract
Low Power Language is a communication habit that many of us carry with us throughout our professional careers. With two decades of communications experience, Susan Kelley helps you identify how to be a more persuasive, confident, and assertive speaker without letting go of your distinct personality. Her research and presentation will offer you techniques to enhance your verbal position, a valuable asset in all areas of STEM, job negotiation, presentations, and more.

Speaker
Susan Kelly is a senior technical content strategist at Medidata. She holds an MA in Literature from Duquesne University and MS in Rhetoric from Carnegie Mellon University, where she taught professional writing and human-computer interaction before joining Medidata in 2022.
Her research focus rhetoric has been on the ways in which men and women's speech differs in the workplace, and effective communication strategies for leaders in the business and political spheres. She has written many essays and articles on executive women's speaking style, and has a forthcoming book titled "Talk Like a Girl: Fierce and Feminine Communication for Everyone."
When she's not at work, Susan is a triathlete and marathon runner, avid kayaker and traveler, and proud mom of three grown children. She lives in the Baltimore-Washington DC area, and will complete her PMP certification in March.
