Jan 2026 - Member Spotlight – Amritpal Chhabra

How long have you been involved with PMINJ as a member and volunteer?
I have been a member of PMINJ since 2007 when I did my PMP. In my current engagement, I have been volunteering since 2022.

In which roles or areas have you volunteered within PMINJ?
I am currently volunteering as Director Finance since 2022 and was nominated to the board in 2024. Previously I have volunteered with PMINJ as part of the memberships team in 2017 -2018

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with PMINJ?
The most important aspect of volunteering that I love is giving back to the community, being able to work closely with other professionals and continue to bring value to our wider network of Project Managers, help them grow in their respective fields. Although I am not directly involved with a lot of the community members, but ensuring the funds are appropriately allocated and spent is critical to make sure the machine is well oiled and running.

Outside of PMINJ, what are some activities or hobbies you’re passionate about?
I love to volunteer at my local Gurudwara, Sikh Temple, where I have been actively involved for the last 15 plus years and have been regularly on their board and served as a Treasurer.

Beyond work and volunteering, what brings you joy or helps you recharge?
Spending time with my family has always been my recharge. I would always drive my daughter to her activities as she indulged in learning music. My son plays basketball and over the years through his school years from Elementary to High School, I always loved to take him to his games, discuss the game on the ride back home. Currently he plays at Stevens Institute and I always look forward to going to his games.

What’s your favorite place to visit or a dream vacation destination?
My favorite vacation has so far been back to India to meet with the family. But over the years, I have taken a few trips to Europe and Mexico and loved it. Dream vacation would be to someday make a trip to Iceland.
