Purpose

The Project Professional of the Year Award recognizes and honors a PMINJ project professional for their accomplishments and skills in the successful execution of a project or in the advancement of the project management profession.

The project professional may use adaptive, predictive or hybrid management methodologies. The project professionals’ unique “story” should be inspirational and compelling to the PMINJ community.

Timeline

  • 31 Jul – Nominations close.
  • 12 Sep – Finalist notified.
  • 11 Oct – Winner will deliver a short video (30 seconds to one minute) to promote the November 18, event.
  • 15 Oct – If requested by PMINJ, the winner will deliver a final Power Point presentation in 16:9 format to PMINJ.
  • 11 Nov – If requested by PMINJ, the winner will take part in a presentation “Dry Run”.
  • 18 Nov – If requested by PMINJ, the project professional will present at the Monthly Meeting.

Eligibility

  • Nominee must be a member of the PMINJ Chapter in good standing
  • Accomplishments or achievements must have been completed, no more than 20 months prior to the nomination deadline.
  • Nominee must be willing to provide detailed information concerning the project or the outstanding achievement.
  • Nominator shall ensure there are no restrictions on the use of submitted information and permission has been obtained for the use of any copyrighted materials.
  • PMINJ Board members may not submit for the project professional award.
  • Self-nominating is NOT permitted.

Verification, Evaluation and Selection

  • The nominator will complete the on-line nomination form
  • The PMINJ Director-Project Awards or designee will contact the nominator to confirm receipt and eligibility of the nomination package.
  • The final evaluation process will consist of interviews, via Zoom video conferencing, of the top three nominees by a panel of PMINJ Board members.
  • The Director will notify the winner at the conclusion of the evaluation process.
  • The nominations, evaluation process and scores are proprietary to PMINJ and will not be disclosed to nominators or nominees.
  • If none of the nominees reflect the level of achievement expected, PMINJ reserves the right not to present an award.

Award

  • One Project Professional award will be presented at the PMINJ Monthly Program Event in November.
  • PMINJ Pulse shall feature the winning project professional. Press releases shall be made to external media for the presentation of the award. The recipient may also coordinate additional publicity with PMINJ.

Eash nomination is evaluated across four areas.
  • Reason for Nomination (25%)
    Why the nominee deserves the award
  • Project Professional Accomplishments (25%)
    How rhe project accomplishments may be used as a model to lead, inspire and motivate other project professionals.
  • Project Professional Challenges (25%)
    The complexity of the projects and unusual conditions, issues and challenges, and how they were overcome.
  • Leadership Styles and Skills (25%)
    How the nominee’s leadership style and skills contributed to the project’s success. Which styles and skills can be shared with other project professionals?

Nomination Package

  • Complete the on-line nomination form.
  • Nominator ensures there are no restrictions on the use of submitted information and permission has been obtained for the use of copyrighted materials included in the nomination package.
