PMI New Jersey Chapter
PMINJ Pulse Welcome

President's Message March 2023

I hope you’re doing great and enjoying the benefits of the PMI New Jersey Chapter!

Symposium and Sunday Seminar are open for registration. This is the most valuable day and a half for keeping up professionally as well as earning many PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle. Check the videos on our YouTube Channel that will preview our terrific speakers, which you can access directly from our website Our Symposium theme is “Today’s Disruptions, Tomorrow’s Skills”, and the Sunday Seminar is led by Alan Mallory, on the topic “Emotional Influence for Managing Hybrid Teams”.

Be sure to share your views with us via the 2023 Member Survey from PMINJ Communications, which was first sent out mid-February. There’s still time to respond! I will be sharing highlights during the introduction to the April Program Meeting.

This month’s program on March 21 will feature Jim Benvie PMP, The “History PM”, sharing with us a classic project from 1879 with many lessons learned, as well as a very interesting story behind it: “Project Management Lessons from the Tay Bridge Disaster”.

Our Career Fair will take place on Friday, March 31, and registration is open. This is always a beneficial event for our members, including the keynote, panel, our varied dedicated and skilled career coaches to help you, and opportunities to talk with recruiters who need you and your skills!

Be sure to always keep your eye on our DEI page. Each month, you are reminded of important cultural events; March 8 is International Women's Day, and there are many other important celebrations to be aware of. Also be sure to read the article on the volunteer featured each month. If you have missed any, you can always go back and read a quick Q&A of our many diverse volunteers and get to know them better!

We have updated the Volunteer page, where many positions have descriptions that are crisper and share with you why you would want to take on the opportunities, and being clear about the expectations. I hope you find it useful to investigate ways to give back to the profession thru PMINJ volunteering!

We are keeping our Ukraine Save the Children fundraiser open, as the need for help for families there is as great as ever, with the war continuing unabated through the winter. Please donate as you are able. You are making a difference!

Wishing you a great month and year ahead, and I look forward to seeing you soon!

"Wherever you are... we are there with you!"
